Change Begins at Home: The Value of Recycling
27 May, 2025 by Javer

Every May 17, we celebrate World Recycling Day, a time to reflect on the importance of properly managing our waste. At Javer, we firmly believe that change begins at home, and that each person has the power to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future from their own household.
That is why, beyond building homes, we develop vibrant communities with a sustainable vision, where every space is designed to care for the planet. Did you know that we have a program that equips our developments with playgrounds and urban furniture made from 100% recycled plastic —and which are also 100% recyclable? Through this initiative, we have installed more than 2,876 pieces of urban furniture, organic and inorganic waste containers, and playground equipment, all made from the recycling of over 1 million PET bottles, helping save more than 1,768 trees since 2019.
In addition, through our internal recycling program, we promote environmental responsibility among our employees with the Reciclatón Challenge, where we have collected more than 22,700 kg of recyclables since 2021. Externally, in our communities, we provide PET and HDPE recycling containers. Through this program, we have managed to recycle more than 4,656 kg of PET and 16,563 kg of plastic caps, which not only support treatment for children with cancer but are also reused to produce plastic chairs that are incorporated into the foundations, walls, and slabs of the homes built by one of our suppliers, to whom we deliver all the collected caps.
Why is recycling at home important?
Recycling goes beyond separating waste. It means rethinking our habits, reducing what we consume to generate less trash, and giving a second life to the objects we use. And there is no better place to start than at home.
Here are some simple and effective actions to start making a change from your household:
-
Separate your waste
Having a separation system at home (organic, recyclable, non-recyclable) makes collection easier and prevents recyclable materials from ending up in landfills. -
Reduce and reuse
Replace single-use plastics with durable options, reuse jars, boxes, or bags, and avoid products with excessive packaging. At home, these habits help you generate less waste and save more. -
Compost
Organic waste such as fruit peels, vegetable scraps, or coffee grounds can be turned into natural fertilizer for your plants. If you have a garden, patio, or rooftop garden, take advantage of them to give new life to what you would normally throw away!
Change begins at home
Recycling at home is possible. At Javer, we build homes designed to help make it a reality. Because we believe that the place where you live can also take care of the planet. Discover our developments on our website and join the change from your home.
