We played lottery and learned Mexican Sign Language
20 September, 2023 by Javer
This year, supported by the organization Dilo en Señas, we brought to Javer a Mexican Sign Language (LSM) lottery for our collaborators.
The Mexican lottery is one of the most representative board games of Mexican culture. Who hasn’t heard those fun verses while trying to complete a lottery card with beans?
Dilo en Señas was founded 11 years ago with the purpose of facilitating the education of deaf children in Mexico in their natural language (LSM). Additionally, they aim to raise awareness among the hearing population about inclusion in various development spaces. They work on different fronts and have had a presence on important platforms, host benefit events, and offer LSM courses.
This Friday, September 15th, as part of the employee integration activities to commemorate Mexican Independence, 60 of our employees experienced learning some words and greetings in LSM and playing the lottery with them. There were prizes for all the winners and besides everyone having a great time, each participant received a voucher for a Mexican Sign Language class or for the next Silent Lottery that Dilo en Señas will hold.
In addition to the fun, the goal of activities like this is to foster a culture of inclusion among our people at Javer. We are sure that each participant took away much more than just a few words; they will be able to share these in Mexican Sign Language today.
